Name: Rebecca Montana

Alias: Rebecca Meowtana. It sounds like my name but I’m really more of a dog person.

Occupation: Assistant manager of a Teavana and a part-time student

Hobbies: Photography, sometimes I get paid to do it even. I also love to cook and bake. I read a lot of Sci-Fi, fantasy, and non fiction. I’m also a huge streamer, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, I love ’em all.

City you live in: Boca Raton

Your recommendations for must-things to do in Florida for visitors:
The Morikami Gardens in Delray
Paddle boarding in the inter-coastal
Tubing in the rivers of northern and central Florida (I recommend the Itchetucknee in Gainesville)
Visit local free art exhibits or museums
Going to record stores and used book stores when I travel because there’s always a good find or two.

Fave restaurant and dish/es to get there:
Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton is a great stop. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options and the menu is always changing so the produce stays in season.

Soundtrack to your life right now:
I’ve always loved the album The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me by Brand New and I saw them for my second time in Miami recently so it’s been on my mind.

Three things you cannot adventure without:
I bring a fanny pack so I can carry my valuables easier. I always travel with two books. One fiction and one non fiction so I can mix it up.

Recommended reading:
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close has always been my favorite novel. It’s way better than the movie they made. I also love The Glass Castle. It’s a very moving memoir about struggle and childhood.

Fave Florida artist/filmmaker/band/performer:
My favorite artist in Florida has got to be my good friend Julia Formica. She’s an upcoming singer and songwriter. The songs she writes are amazing. She could be selling these to the big name guys for like thousands.

Adventure attire:
I’m always comfortable in Tshirt dresses or sun dresses. Plus they’re cute. I really like to wear Nike sneakers for sensible but cute walking shoes also.

Fave drink: Kombucha if we’re going healthy, gin and tonics if we’re going out.
Beauty products for adventures:
I travel with a small thing of lotion and body wash. I don’t use makeup of anything so I don’t bring any of that.
I have LUSH’s Celebrate lotion from the holidays and some other body wash.

Call to action: Animal rights is something I’m very passionate about. Farm Sanctuary is a great resource for all animal welfare issues so check out farmsanctuary.com
